If you know or suspect that a child is
or may be in need of protection, contact the nearest
Children's Aid Society without delay. Your prompt
action and your co-operation are vital to Ontario's
child protection system.
If you are in
Durham Region call
If you are outside of Durham Region, the telephone
directory will have the phone number of the nearest
office. The emergency pages in most Ontario telephone
directories list the number of the local Children's
Aid Society (or Family and Children's Services).
All Children's Aid Societies have emergency service,
24 hours a day.
The Durham Children's Aid Society is mandated
by the Ontario government to provide services
to children in need of protection. This responsibility is mandated
under Ontario's Child and Family
Services Act (CFSA).
We investigate reports that a child
may be in need of protection. And we provide safety
for those children who are found to be in need
of protection.
We fulfill our mandate in collaboration with
families, health care providers, courts, police
and other community service agencies. We encourage
healthy relationships among the children and families
we serve. We promote the development of positive
parenting skills in the families we serve.
